Part Time Youth Worker – The Mill Youth Centre, Bramhall
The successful candidate will lead youth sessions, as well as one-to-one mentoring, small group support, preparing schools work and some detached youth work across weekdays and some Saturdays. To work out availability with other team members.
Key tasks include:
To build relationships with young people, to provide support in an appropriate manner, particularly with those most vulnerable. Being aware of personal conduct and boundaries fitting a youth worker.
You will work with young people to give them strong influence and direction in various projects.
Responsible for insuring the planning and reliability of volunteers. Providing supervision and support where needed.
Manage behaviour of young people and challenge negative attitudes. Ensuring activities are free from bullying and intimidation of any kind and that young people adhere to the rules.
Be a positive role model at all times, encourage young people to recognise and develop their potential, tackle negative barriers to success and raise their confidence and aspirations. Facilitate the development of their personal and social skills, enjoy good mental and physical health, advocate on their behalf, help them develop resilience, coping skills and interdependence.
Help young people to become actively involved in their community through volunteering activities, working along side and building close relationships with various churches in Bramhall. Working with team members to ensure accountability online and social media content. To create content online for young people based on the projects already in place. To work alone and with other team members to facilitate fundraising opportunities from and within the charity.
Ensure our café is stocked, efficient and safe for young people to have produce and volunteers to work harmoniously within our budget.
As a keyholder, you will be responsible for the unlocking and locking up of the building, ensuring the security of property and contents.
Responsible for the health and safety of young people and volunteers on and off the premises and that all policies are adhered to, working within the safeguarding guidelines and to be aware of the reporting procedures. Including the writing of risk assessments, incident reports and reporting damaged equipment.
Attend supervision and training, given by management or trustees, as required for your own personal development.
The Mill Youth Centre exists to respond to the needs of individuals and therefore some tasks and responsibilities are unpredictable and varied. It is therefore expected that all team members will work in a flexible manner when required, undertaking duties that have not specifically been covered in the job description or to cover absences, as agreed with your line manager.
In accordance with schedule nine of the Equality act 2010, we consider we have an occupational requirement to employ someone in the role who is a practising Christian.
